NFL Power Rankings Week 7: What Are the Experts Saying?

John RozumOct 18, 2011

On Tuesday the Week 7 edition of ESPN's NFL power rankings came out, and needless to say, the experts did very well this time.

So what are the experts saying though?

Well, let's break it down into four segments.

Colts Jaguars Football
Rams Seahawks Football
Mississippi Football

Note: Week 7 NFL Power Rankings below are the writer's only.

Rankings 1-8

They obviously still like the Packers and rightfully so, as the defending Super Bowl champs are the final undefeated team remaining.

Outside of the Top 6, there hasn't been anyone who's overly impressive, which is why San Diego and Pittsburgh lie at No. 7 and No. 8, as they appears to be the best amongst the "good" teams.

But both still have a lot prove, however, they've done enough to enter "sleeper" mode as well.

Rankings 9-16

You're basically splitting hairs with the Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, and New York Giants, while the Tampa Bay Bucs' could potentially be the best team in this segment. But, due to their dismal performance at San Fran, they are being rightfully punished.

For some reason they still believe the Jets and Redskins can do something, but truth be told, Washington had no business being ranked No. 10 a week ago.

As for the Bears, they're not being punished for their three losses, as all were to the Packers, Saints, and Lions.

Rankings 17-24

No surprise to see the Houston Texans at No. 17, and being without your two best players does hurt, however, Houston could be ranked a little higher as they played much better at Baltimore than expected.

Despite winning games, the Bengals aren't getting much respect, but then again, they've lost to Denver and their best win came at home against Buffalo. They're divisional games will be crucial.

Atlanta, Philly and Dallas are all in good spots and their identities this season are still uncertain. In addition the Cleveland Browns may be too high as both their wins came against Indy and Miami.

Rankings 25-32

Can't go wrong with the position of any team's ranking here. Worst-case scenario is you could rearrange them however you like because no one is really worth a ranking higher than say No. 23 (best-case scenario).

This segment's really who's just the best of the worst, so you may actually want to be closer to No. 32 (especially if you need a QB) because the 2012 NFL Draft is loaded with them.
