NFL Trade Rumors: With Carson Palmer Off Block, Who Are Best QBs Left?

Zach KruseOct 18, 2011

The Oakland Raiders made one of the biggest splashes at the NFL trading deadline that we've seen in a long time.Cincinnati Bengals' owner Mike Brown to caved and dealt quarterback Carson Palmer to the West Coast.

ESPN's Adam Schefter announced the news via Twitter.

Now that Palmer's no longer a trade option, however, which quarterbacks are the best options left?

Let's run down the potential options for teams still in search of a signal caller.

Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos

Orton is the most likely quarterback to be moved today now that Palmer is in Oakland.

The chances are still somewhat slim, but Orton has asked to move out of Denver in the past and is now sitting on the bench behind Tim Tebow. While the Raiders were initially interested in acquiring Orton, their first target was always Palmer.

If a team, such as the Dolphins, wants to make a move to upgrade at quarterback, the Broncos are probably the team to call.

Vince Young, Philadelphia Eagles

The Raiders were apparently ready to go after Young if the Palmer trade crumbled, which tells me that the Eagles are willing to take calls for their backup.

Young certainly didn't help his trade opportunities when he threw a pick on his first pass of the season while filling in for Michael Vick for a series last week.

But, he's still young and the athletic ability is there if a team is looking for a quarterback.

Mike Kafka, Philadelphia Eagles

With Young healthy, Kafka was regulated back to the No. 3 spot on the Eagles depth chart.

However, Kafka didn't look overwhelmed when taking over for Vick at times this season. I'm not sure if the Eagles would be willing to entertain trades for him, but he's an interesting long-term prospect at the quarterback position.

Rex Grossman, Washington Redskins

Redskins' coach Mike Shanahan has said that he feels comfortable with both Grossman and John Beck, and it might be a risk to deal a guy you picked to start the season.

But Grossman's four picks has him on Washington's bench and that always opens the opportunity for a potential move.

Matt Flynn, Green Bay Packers

The Packers have said time and time again that Flynn is more valuable as their backup then as a trade piece.

Flynn is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason, however, and the Packers would likely listen to an offer if it was good enough.
