NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Are NFL's Most Overrated?
One thing the media has the power to do is overrate teams.
It happens every year.
A big market, a polarizing quarterback/coach or past success can lead to a club being sold as a true contender despite a variety of faults.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
A few of those teams exist today.
New York Jets
They're coming off a 24-6 win over the Miami Dolphins on MNF and they're currently 3-3. At .500, that's exactly the type of team they are.
The Jets certainly aren't Super Bowl contenders or even AFC title game candidates.
Mark Sanchez showed signs of life from the second quarter on, but the Dolphins generated zero pass rush throughout. He was still errant on many of his throws even when he did get time.
The running game was OK, as New York rushed for 104 yards on 29 carries (3.6 per-attempt average).
It's hard to decide how the defense played because, really, Miami's offense and new quarterback Matt Moore are awful. Like worst-in-the-league awful.
New York isn't a bad team, but to think they're anything better than their .500 record indicates is foolish.
San Diego Chargers
At 4-1, the Chargers have gotten off to their best start in years, so everyone's jumping on the bandwagon.
However, Philip Rivers' stats are very un-Rivers-like (6 TDs, 7 INTs) and their four wins have come against the Vikings, Chiefs, Dolphins and Broncos in all closely contested games.
You can't change who you play, but I'd like to see a more dominating performance against the Jets next week before I consider them a legitimate title contender.
New Orleans Saints
This is a bit of my usual nit-picking, because the Saints are a good team, one that I hold to the highest standard.
Their defense is very suspect stopping the run and limiting passing yards, and if Drew Brees doesn't have a flawless game, New Orleans could lose a few games they should win. (They have forced only four turnovers, as well.)
We won't see how good they are until November with their next two games against Indianapolis and St. Louis.
