Jahvid Best Injury: Will the Detroit Lions Trade for a Replacement?
Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Jahvid Best suffered a concussion during the Lions’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
How will the Lions replace Best’s production if he has to miss some games?
Keiland Williams is the backup right now but he barely sees the field. The team added him late in the preseason after highly touted rookie Mikel Leshoure went down with a season-ending injury.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Williams has just 19 carries for 49 yards and a score, and not a single reception. On the other hand, Best has 84 carries for 390 yards and two touchdowns. He has also helped in the passing game, contributing 27 receptions for 287 yards and a score.
It’s quite clear the Lions don’t trust Williams in giving the majority of snaps to the injury-prone Best.
Because they rely so heavily on a one-back system, Detroit's worst nightmare has finally come true as Best was on the receiving end of a major injury. How will the 5-1 team with postseason aspirations recover?
One way for them would be to add a replacement today before the 4 p.m. trade deadline.
A big-name option would be Madden 2012 cover man, Peyton Hillis.
Hillis has expressed unhappiness with his contract and has been playing poorly thus far this season. His bruising style of rushing would be a great complement to the Best’s scat-back play style.
However this is most likely not going to happen as Hillis suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday and Browns coach Pat Shurmur confirmed Monday that Hillis is not on the trading block.
The Lions are probably better off working out some free agents and checking the waiver wire rather than trading any current or future assets away during this renaissance season.
Best should only miss a couple games at most with this concussion, and the time off should give his body the rest it needs for a playoff push.
