Week 7 Waiver Wire: Colt McCoy and More Bye Week Fantasy Stars

Gabe ZaldivarOct 18, 2011

Bah, the blunders that abound during bye weeks are many. It's high time you infuse your squad with waiver-wire studs. Now is as good a time as any to skirt disaster and win Week 7 with these players that can be had for free.

It's time to take a chance on Colt McCoy. The man gives you something that can't usually be had on the cheap in fantasy leagues—consistency.

Heading into a bye week, you usually have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find a worthy QB. Colt McCoy is that rare unheralded QB that won't sting you by throwing picks or performing under his current level, especially not this week.

Here are a few names to think about as you try to fill out your team in the treacherous time known as bye week.

1. Colt McCoy

In Yahoo! Leagues, McCoy has been tossing up 18 and 19 point games with consistency. There is no reason to think he cannot at least duplicate that effort against the Seahawks

Seattle poses no real threat to McCoy in the way of a stifling defense. Feel free to start him and reap the rewards of a game hovering around 20 points. Trust me, it gets a lot worse on the waiver wire than that wort of point totals.

That's right. I have been killing the guy for months, but it's time you take a chance on Tim Tebow.

Even Yahoo! Leagues project an 18-point game for the first-time starter. It goes without saying that his first game will be a run heavy endeavor that will be tough for the Dolphins to game plan for. He will look great running circles around a much maligned Dolphins team.

3. Curtis Painter

The Colts quarterback had a setback of sorts last week. After scores of 21 and 23 points, the tough Bengals defense shut down his fantasy progress.

He and the Colts will get back on track in Week 7. Well, Painter should at the very least. The Saints are a middling pass defense Painter should be able to exploit for a respectable fantasy outing.
