Reggie Bush Injury: Latest on Dolphins RB's Neck Injury

Gabe ZaldivarOct 17, 2011

Reggie Bush received a blow to the neck on Monday Night. After some conjecture, he was questionable to return all game with what seemed to be a stinger.

Bush started the night with a flurry, and the Dolphins surely missed his presence when he left in the third quarter. Before his injury, Bush had 10 carries for 71 yards.

Fantasy Impact: Bush was seen getting treatment on the sidelines. While this is pure assumption, it didn't seem like there was anything serious about his injury. Owners of Bush saw a spry running back flourish in the early goings. Behind an inexperienced quarterback, Bush was a rare weapon until his departure.

Who's the Backup? Daniel Thomas filled in well for Bush the rest of the way. The Dolphins had Thomas carry the load as he carried 15 times for 47 yards as of this writing. He never showed the breakaway ability of Bush, but it's clear Thomas is the guy behind Bush.

Devastation Scale 1-10: 3

Bush's injury doesn't seem to be all that serious. We will know more in the coming days after numerous tests are run. However, Bush was hardly the item of note that did the Dolphins in. This team is awful on both sides of the ball.

If Bush could play receiver as well as in the secondary, then we could say this is devastating.

Time line for Return: All game reports were that Bush was questionable to return.

What They're Saying:

Miami Dolphins writer for The Palm Beach Post tweets the initial injury on Monday Night.

ESPN had the same sort of tweet during the game.

It's clear that little is known about the severity of Bush's injury. It seemed as though the score had more to do with his sideline in the fourth quarter than anything else.
