NFL Picks Week 7: 3 Home Teams That Will Dominate Vistors

Michael MillOct 18, 2011

Home-field advantage is usually a key in each game that most people fail to pay enough attention to.

Last Sunday, home teams went 10-2.

It helped better teams create even larger leads and it helped lesser teams keep games close.

Here are three home teams that will crush visitors on their home turf this weekend.

Detroit Lions

The Lions suffered their first loss of the season last week at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, falling 25-19.

This doesn't mean the Lions aren't for real. In fact, that game showed just how competitive they are going to be in the NFC playoff race this year.

This weekend a Falcons team struggling to find its identity will travel to Detroit to take on the Lions.

Look for Detroit to rebound in a big way. It won't just beat Atlanta. It's going to make a statement after losing last week.

Carolina Panthers

I'm a sucker for Cam Newton. I have picked the Panthers as upset picks the last couple of weeks and the Panthers seem to just fall short time and time again.

I'm willing to take that chance again this week. The NFC East-leading Washington Redskins come to town to take on the Panthers.

They may be leading the division, but the Redskins are in shambles. It's not even clear whom their quarterback is going to be after the loss to Philadelphia last weekend.

Look for the Carolina Panthers to take advantage of the situation. This is going to be a close battle, but the Panthers will edge out the Redskins late in the game.

Oakland Raiders

Just win, baby.

That's exactly what the Oakland Raiders have been doing. Sitting at a 4-2 record, Oakland is one of the few dark horses not getting too much attention.

That is especially the case now that the Raiders are in trouble at the quarterback position with Jason Campbell out.

Luckily, it won't matter this week.

The Raiders, even without Campbell, are a much better team than the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders will be happy to enter their bye week with a 5-2 record.
