NFL Trade Rumors: Why Kyle Orton Is Stuck with the Denver Broncos

I hope Kyle Orton is ready for an incredibly awkward 11 weeks.

After getting benched in favor of Tim Tebow, Orton’s future with the Denver Broncos is over.  Clearly he would be thrilled to get traded before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline and jump on a team where he could play right away.

While he hasn’t asked for a trade, it’s pretty obvious he wants to get as far away from Tebow as possible.

Problem is, the Broncos aren’t going to find a match to pull off a deal.

The team most in need of a QB right now is the Oakland Raiders, but according to ESPN NFL insider John Clayton, the salary cap numbers don’t match up.

On top of that, the two teams hate each other and it’s hard to imagine the Broncos wanting to help out their AFC West division rival in any way possible.

The Miami Dolphins were rumored to be trade partners with the Broncos before the season started. Yet after a 0-5 start, they’re in full-blown “Suck for Luck” mode.

The Seattle Seahawks could use him, but management is going to give Charlie Whitehurst a shot before making any sort of major decision like that (a great example of why the NFL trade deadline is way too early in the season).

The Vikings and Jaguars have rookies at their disposal, and the Rams won’t be giving up on 2010 No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford anytime soon.

While there are plenty of teams that would be upgrading by bringing in Orton, he’s simply not worth the price tag. Nobody is interested in throwing almost $6 million at a QB that isn’t saving anybody's season.

Instead, Orton is going to be rotting away as Tebow’s backup, stuck on the sidelines as the crazed Denver crowd chants “Tim Terrific.”

It’s going to be a long rest of the year for Orton before he is finally free to leave Denver as a free agent after the season.
