Teams That Should Consider Signing WR Mike Sims-Walker Following Release

Michael MillOct 17, 2011

The word on Mike Sims-Walker is a bit confusing and complicated at this very point in time.

The St. Louis wide receiver has not officially been released by the team, but we are all waiting for the announcement to be made.

Earlier today, Sims-Walker tweeted "Done been thru a lot and pretty sure I'm gone go thru a lot more but I promise I have no brakes!!!! "

A bit later, he followed it up with a tweet saying "Wanna thank the rams organization and fans for the short stay, I am a better player and Man because of yall, best of luck....."

Whether or not the release is official is still up in the air. With the St. Louis trade for Brandon Lloyd, it appears that it will become fact in a matter of time.

When it does, what teams should consider picking up the wide receiver?

At only 26 years old, Sims-Walker could very likely still find success in this league if he is given the right opportunity.

A team like Carolina may benefit from the young receiver. Giving him the opportunity to play with rookie sensation Cam Newton could be just what Sims-Walker needs to spark his career.

It's clear that he needs to be in a position as a No. 2 wide receiver. Playing across from Steve Smith, who will draw double coverage, will give him opportunities he hasn't seen before.

There are plenty of teams in need of wide receivers.

Cleveland, Houston, Tennessee, Kansas City, Oakland, Washington, Minnesota, Seattle and more could all make offers to Sims-Walker.

The opportunity really is endless for a wide receiver that is young and has showed early potential in his career.

If and when Sims-Walker does get released, it shouldn't take him long to find a new home.
