Manny Pacquiao Playboy: Pac-Man Drops His Guard in Playboy Interview

The last thing fighters want is to leave themselves wide open. That is exactly what Manny Pacquiao is doing in an interview for Playboy's November issue. 

The fighter renowned around the world for being a humanitarian, politician and world-class athlete is letting us all in for a behind the scenes look at his training. When most athletes would rather hide behind a facade, Pacquiao is dropping his guard. 

Pacquiao is not your average athlete. He is certainly not your run-of-the-mill pugilist either. While other boxers talk a great game, "Pac-Man" walks a walk most would never dream of enduring. 

We have been promised an in depth interview with the world's favorite pugilist. The article will delve into Pacquiao's intense training, his love for country and his vow against sex ahead of a boxing match. 

From the tidbits that have been released, we glean that our assumptions on Pacquaio are well warranted. This guy is indeed as committed as he seems. While others are looking for way to lessen their burden outside the ring, Pacquiao is filling his life with as much responsibility as he can handle.

USA Today cites an excerpt from the interview that Cook wrote.

The crowds don't bother him. "I like them," he tells me. "I am a man of the people." And he likes this town, reeking of bus fumes and spit-roasted chicken, better than Vegas or New York. "This is where I learned to be brave and fight hard," he says.

The interview will also delve into rooster fights that Pacquiao adores, and a vow of chastity that he sticks by weeks ahead of bouts. 

However, this is the part that really struck a chord with me. So many athletes forget where they come from. They leave for the glitz and glamour only to want more of the fame they have been given. 

Pacquiao has almost romantic feelings for his humble past, and he uses that to stay grounded. There is so much to like about the hard-working fighter that it's hard to pick out just one attribute. For me, I have always enjoyed how his homesickness keeps him human. 

The sports world has made a plethora of millionaires, but not many would want to return home. Pacquiao understands that where he came from is part of who he is, and that is simply refreshing.
