Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: 4 Trades That Could Change a Player's Production
The NFL Trade Deadline is Oct. 18th, and as teams scramble to get trades together, fantasy owners need to beware of the winners and losers of trades and the impact on fantasy.
With the confirmation of the Brandon Lloyd to St. Louis trade and the possibility of others, we can look at four trades that could change a player's production.
1. Brandon Lloyd: WR
1 of 4Lloyd is now headed to the St. Louis Rams where he will become the No. 1 receiver and really about the only good receiver in St. Louis.
His targets, receptions and touchdown looks will go up for the rest of the season as he's only had one 100 yard game so far, but expect that number to become a regular stat as Sam Bradford will look to find Lloyd as much as possible.
He will finish with numbers that aren't as great as his career season in 2010, but his production will go up the rest of this season.
Although you probably won't pick him up on waivers, proposing a trade for him will help your season out.
2. Eddie Royal: WR
2 of 4Although Eddie Royal probably won't be traded now that the Denver Broncos have dealt Brandon Lloyd. Eddie Royal will step into a bigger position in the offense and receive a few of the targets that left with Lloyd.
He is only 25 years old and has shown great potential when he can stay healthy. He is available in a large number of leagues and could be a safe bench pickup for now to see how he will play with Brandon Lloyd leaving.
3. Carson Palmer: QB
3 of 4With Carson Palmer being heavily sought after by the Raiders, he would be a hot pickup off waivers because he would likely step in to a starting position there.
He has shown over his career that he has good accuracy and a TD-INT ratio of 1.5, so he will give you a serviceable amount of points if he plays in Oakland.
Having no production now, if he gets traded and plays then any production is good production for Carson Palmer.
4. Jimmy Clausen: QB
4 of 4After a very poor showing in 2010 allowed Carolina to draft the first pick in Cam Newton, Jimmy Clausen has no chance of playing again in Carolina.
The Reskins recently benched Rex Grossman for his four-INT game and John Beck will step in to the starting role with some big question marks. If the Redskins play it safe, then Jimmy Clausen could be in the mix for starting quarterback in Washington.
The system in Carolina is a bit different than Washington, and perhaps Clausen can thrive under the offense of Mike Shanahan, especially since there is a good tight end in Chris Cooley and Fred Davis and a strong wideout in Santana Moss.
Clausen could provide decent fantasy numbers if he gets traded to Washington and finds himself in the quarterback mix.
