Thoughts on Buffalo Bulls Head Coach, Turner Gill…
Husker Nation is very happy to see Turner Gill turn around the Buffalo Bull’s from dormats to MAC Champions.
The MAC is a place where good coaches are born. In fact, two coaches who are in the SEC and Big 12 title games today, Gary Pinkell and Urban Meyer, both have MAC head coaching experience on their resume.
It wouldn’t shock anyone to see Turner Gill make the jump to a BCS school anytime soon.
I would love to see him take up the Syracuse job. There is no reason why he shouldn’t be offered the job. But I wouldn’t bet that Turner will take the first big job he is offered. As Steve Sipple writes today, Turner was originally offered the Oklahoma coordinator job when Stoops’ first took over but Turner thought it wouldn’t feel right to go to a rival like Oklahoma. Turner passed and Mike Leach took over for one season before moving to Texas Tech.
It’s surprising that Kansas State didn’t take a look at Turner for their opening. Yes, BIll Synder is a legend in Manhattan, but Turner Gill turned Buffalo, a dying city that is on the verge of losing their beloved Bill’s, into MAC champions.
