WWE Suspends Heath Slater for Wellness Policy Failure

Justin WatryOct 17, 2011

In a bit of breaking news in the world of WWE, the company has announced that Heath Slater has been suspended for 30 days.

Being his first violation of the wellness program, it will be a short suspension, coming in at just about a month's time.

My thoughts on this?

It is certainly a bump in the road for the young man. It is not the end of the world, as I am sure some will be calling for here.

Many have failed the wellness policy in the past, and they are doing just fine right now. It is a black mark against your career, though.

Make no mistake about it, this is not good news for Heath Slater and all (two?) of his fans out there in the WWE Universe.

As long as he does not let this destroy him, he should be back in no time during his "Southern Rock Band" gimmick only he can do.

As for his future? I don't think much will change. He is not getting over with the crowd. He has a different look and personality (not a good thing, in my mind), but he is pretty good in the ring.

Am I expecting him to be the next world champ in 30 days? No. Will he be a contender for a mid-card title belt? Probably not.

Heath will keep his usual spot on WWE programming, and everything will be back to normal in no time. I wish Mr. Slater well, and I hope this issue does not become bigger down the road...
