Green Bay Packers High Flying Offense Still at Head of Class in NFL

Believe it or not, Packer fans, the Green Bay Packers have a terrific offense. They have a consistent passing game and an improved running attack. The Packers are fifth in the NFL in total scoring.

Now you may be asking what kind of drugs am I taking and where can you get some to ease the pain and disappointment of missing the playoffs. That would be missing the point. The Packers score a heck of a lot of points. Statistically, the team is on pace to score about 25.7 points per game and 411 total points.

In 2007, the Packers finished fourth in the NFL in scoring with 435 total points and averaging 27.1 points per game. In comparison, the teams are producing at almost identical levels!

These facts are even more impressive after the fact that Green Bay made some offseason position changes at the quarterback. Even with the close games and conservative play calling, the unit as a whole is producing at an elite level and building a terrific foundation for future years.

Clearly the problems of the 2008 season cannot be pinned to only one unit’s performance, but rather a wider perspective must be taken.

It’s like my Dad said to me after leaving the Panthers game all dejected. As I cursed Aaron Rodgers’ last-minute interception, he brought me back to reality by saying that he didn’t see No. 12’s jersey on the field during any special teams or defensive plays this season.

As much as we die-hard Brett Favre fans would love to, we cannot lay the blame for this season completely on the offense or Rodgers.
