Week 7 Waiver Wire: Marshawn Lynch and 3 Bold Adds to Save Your Team

T.J. McaloonOct 17, 2011

As we head to the halfway point of most fantasy football leagues (as Week 14 usually starts playoffs for fantasy football owners), your team is lacking talent, and every game is starting to turn into must-win games.

You cannot afford another loss, sending you anywhere in the range of 2-5 to 3-4 and on the outside looking into the playoff picture.

You need to turn that fantasy football ship around—and turn it around fast!

That’s why you need to make a BOLD move by making an addition to anyone of the five players that listed below.

Drop one of your players who are underperforming—like Chad Ochocinco or Ladainian—they are wasting space on your roster and are doing you no good.

Pick these players up.

Marshawn Lynch: Running Back, Seattle Seahawks

This add is for those fantasy owners who play their leagues on Yahoo Sports. Marshawn is available in 31 percent of leagues, so your chances of snagging the starting running back from Seattle are good.

He hasn’t had a great season, but if you are in need of a running back this week then you have to add Lynch.

His Seahawks are playing against the 27th-ranked defense against the run in the Cleveland Browns, and his team is coming off of a bye week.

Look for the running back to go into “Beast Mode” against the woeful Browns on Sunday.

Colt McCoy: Quarterback, Cleveland Browns

Let’s stay with this game and focus our attention on the other side of the ball—the Cleveland offense, led by Colt McCoy.

On the season, Colt has had a sold fantasy year. Last week against Oakland, he was able to throw for 215 yards with two touchdowns, good for 18 fantasy points.

That performance went right along with what Colt has put up in previous weeks, as on the season Colt’s point totals have gone 19 (Week 1), 14 (Week 2), 18 (Week 3) and 17 (Week 4).

If you need a quarterback because Tom Brady is off this week, then give an add to McCoy, as he’s only owned in 33 percent of leagues on Yahoo Sports.

Devin Hester: Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears

Hester went off last night for fantasy owners who took a risk on the speedy receiver. You had to be in a deep league to have Hester starting, as he’s only owned in 29 percent of leagues.

But, for the season, Hester has been putting up a solid six points per game. Weeks 1, 3 and 4, Hester had six points—last night he came in with 21.

Now, make sure your league awards you kick off/punt return points, if you have the person who returns the kick. Because if they don’t, then Hester is a risky play at wide receiver.

However, it looks as if Hester is going to be factored into the Chicago passing game now, and the Bears play the 23rd-ranked defense in Tampa Bay this week.

He’s worth a roster spot and play if your hurting because DeSean Jackson is off this week.

There you have it—three players who will have big games this week and guide you back into the win column.
