4 Teams Peyton Hillis Could Improve Immediately

Justine BrownOct 16, 2011

Cleveland Browns starting running back Peyton Hillis will be a free agent at the end of this year, and the team has yet to reach a contract extension with him.  If this situation continues to worsen we could see Hillis make a request to be traded.

Here are four teams Hillis could improve immediately.

Indianapolis Colts

1 of 4

As we all know, the Indianapolis Colts need all the help they can get.  With starting running back Joseph Addai battling injury, having just an OK season and turning 29 in May, Peyton Hillis could be a good addition to the Colts roster.

Right now rookie running back Delone Carter is playing backup to Addai, but he has yet to do anything really impressive as he tries to prove himself.

Kansas City Chiefs

2 of 4

Ever since the Chiefs lost starting running back Jamaal Charles for the season with an ACL injury, they have yet to really find a good replacement for him.

After backup Thomas Jones and versatile weapon Dexter McCluster failed to make any real impact, the Chiefs gave third-stringer Jackie Battle a try.  Battle did a pretty good job his first opportunity of getting significant carries, and time will tell how good he will be, but the addition of Peyton Hillis could solve the Chiefs' problems at running back.

San Francisco 49ers

3 of 4

At age 28, Frank Gore is having a great season for the 5-1 San Francisco 49ers.  However, Gore carries the majority of the workload for the 49ers and is lacking a proven backup behind him.  Gore is only getting older and the addition of a running back like Peyton Hillis would not only make the team better but also help increase Gore's longevity.

A long-shot trade deal for Peyton Hillis would send the running back back to Denver where he was drafted.  Right now the team is rumored to be shopping not only wide receiver Brandon Lloyd but also Eddie Royal.

Although Willis McGahee has done a good job carrying the ball for the Broncos this year, he is about to turn 30 years old and the Broncos' other option at running back, Knowshon Moreno, has yet to live up to expectations.

Picking up Hillis could not only help the Broncos out immediately, but also give them a back for the future.
