NFL Power Rankings Updated and Other NFL Jabber

Lee JohnsonDec 5, 2008

The race is on for the NFL Playoffs!  Well, some teams are still in the race but don’t even act as if they know.  Whodathunk the Patriots and Dolphins would be fighting with each other to get a wildcard?  Let’s dive into some NFL Jabber and check out this weeks Power Rankings…

You can get a look at this week's Football Jabber NFL Power Rankings by CLICKING THESE BIG HIGHLIGHTED WORDS HERE. Give you a hint, Lions are last.

Speaking of the Lions and them being last in the NFL…that means that they are on their way to possibly having the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft!  Yes, you heard it here first kids.

What will the Lions do?  Go WR, you say?  Come on, that joke is a bit worn out, although Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech is looking good.  Andre Smith from Alabama on the offensive line maybe?  You are supposed to use this spot to be sure you have a franchise QB, how about a Matthew Stafford out of Georgia?

Yes it is early to talk NFL Draft, but I would like to introduce you to Football Jabber’s NFL DRAFT HUB. An interactive collection of NFL Draft News, 2009 NFL Mock Drafts, Draft Prospect news and highlight videos.  Submit, vote, or jut do your NFL Draft Research.

So did you hear the Star Cap Caper is going to be drawn out a little more?  A Judge in Minnesota wants more time to take a look at this, so the accused get to play this week.  On NFL Live, they brought up a good question…what if they get to play now and then have to sit in the playoffs (not the Saints, of course).  Would it be better to sit now or fight THE MAN.

So…off the top of your head who would you say are the leaders in passer rating on Play Action passes?  Peyton Manning is pretty good, right?  Well, I’m sure he’ll come back around.  How about that Favre guy?  That was always one of his strong points.  Nope.  How about that guy that took his place in Green Bay?  You're getting warmer…

"

According to Stats, an independent research firm, Aaron Rodgers has completed 37 of his 63 play-action passes this season for 660 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. That’s less than one-sixth of Rodgers’ attempts and a modest completion percentage of 58.7 percent—lower than his overall percentage of 63.6—but his 114.5 passer rating on play-action throws ranks second behind only Buffalo quarterback Trent Edwards’ 129.1.

The teams of the NFC South are 22-2 this season at home.

Bucs Coach Jon Gruden had been nicknamed after that misunderstood doll in the Child’s Play movies, Chucky.  Chucky does not want to be watching scary highlight films after this weekend…

"

“That guy Steve Smith, he’s a nightmare, man,” Gruden said on a conference call with reporters Thursday. “He’s like Freddy Krueger to me. He scares the (heck) out of me.”

"

Jim Haslett and Steven Jackson are back to making beautiful L’s together for the Rams.

If you are getting all giddy over the chance of a Dolphins postseason, you may like this photo collection from Playoffs and Super Bowls in the Dolphins past…

Have you been asking yourself if the Redskins and Ravens game is really a rivalry?  You are not alone…

If you are anywhere near Green Bay and want to earn approximately $32, they could use some help

"

With snow expected Friday night, the Green Bay Packers put out a call for volunteer shovelers to turn out Saturday morning and help clear the stands at Lambeau Field in preparation for Sunday’s game with Houston…
