Fantasy Football Week 14: Defenses

1. (Tennessee Titans) vs. Cleveland Browns

The Browns haven't exactly been an offensive juggernaut this season, averaging a mere 17.8 points per game. Things aren't going to get any better with Ken Dorsey under center, who already has an interception in just three throws this season. There's a very real chance for the Titans to get a shutout in this one.

2. (Baltimore Ravens) vs. Washington Redskins

In their last four games, the Redskins have only gone over the 10-point mark once, a 20-point effort against the Seattle Seahawks and their 30th-ranked defense. The Ravens? Well, they're no Seahawks. On the year, Baltimore ranks No. 2 overall when it comes to defenses and first when it comes to interceptions with 20. The Redskins will have a tough time eclipsing that 10-point plateau once again.

3. (New England Patriots) @ Seattle Seahawks

Kudos to Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who continues to give it a go despite a banged-up back. Unfortunately, that toughness hasn't translated to offensive success, and he is in doubt for this weekend's game. Plus, the Seahawks are averaging just 18 points per game on the season, despite playing in the NFC West, a division that lacks any defensive powerhouses. Thier -5 turnover ratio is nothing to write home about either.

4. (Minnesota Vikings) @ Detroit Lions

After this weekend's match-up with the Vikings, the Lions should be just three games away from the dreaded 0-16 season. After all, in their previous match-up this season, the Vikings held Detroit to just 10 points and tallied a solid 14 fantasy points. Similar numbers are expected in this one.

5. (Indianapolis Colts) vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals at one point in time challenged the Indianapolis Colts when it came to the best offense in the NFL. Those days are long gone, as the Bengals now rank dead last in the league, averaging just 12 points per game. That number makes sense when you consider they've allowed 43 sacks, good for second-worst in the league. The Colts will add to that number on Sunday.

6. (New York Jets) @ San Francisco 49ers

Shaun Hill has done a much better job at taking care of the ball and avoiding the sack than J.T. O'Sullivan did earlier in the season. Still, the Jets pose a bad match-up for the Niners' offense as their rush defense, which ranks fourth in the league, perfectly counters the Niners' strength on offense, Frank Gore. The Niners were the first team to win on the East Coast from the West Coast last week. This week, the Jets, while they won't be the first, will win this one out west.

7. (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) @ Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have been hot of late, and the motor that's been moving the machine is running back DeAngelo Williams. Unfortunately for Carolina, stopping the run is the Bucs' forte, as they've allowed just one rushing touchdown on the year. That's going to force Jake Delhomme to throw the ball, which hasn't been a good thing for Carolina this season. The Bucs had 21 fantasy points the last time these two teams met, they probably won't hit that mark this week, but double digits are a reasonable expectation.
