Chris Johnson and the Biggest Fantasy Busts of 2011

Brian MaziqueOct 16, 2011

There is a list of fantasy busts every year. Sometimes these bust arise because of injury and this list has a few that are here for that reason. Other times, it just doesn't work out the way it did the year before.

Through six games, these eight players have fallen short of living up to their pre-draft rankings.

Chris Johnson

1 of 8

CJ2K had tremendous pressure to perform this year, especially after the highly-publicized contract dispute. So far, he'd do well to just be called CJK after his first five games.

Johnson is only on pace to gain 800 yards with three touchdowns in 2011. That is a far cry from the 1,364 yards and 11 TDs from 2010-11, let alone the 2,000-yard season in 2009-10.

Jamaal Charles

2 of 8

The injury to Charles in the opening week of the NFL season at Detroit symbolized the beginning and the end for both teams.

Charles figured to be a huge part of the Chiefs' offense this season, but a knee injury finished him for 2011, making him a bust.

DeAngelo Williams

3 of 8

DeAngelo Williams is having a decent year. He was expected to rebound from last year's injury-riddled season with a big year.

His lack of production isn't his fault. He is averaging just over nine carries per game.

This status could change if the Panthers commit to him more for the rest of the season, as he is averaging 5.6 yards per carry with what he's been given.

Steven Jackson

4 of 8

Steven Jackson is one of the most physically gifted RBs in the NFL. His combination of size, strength and speed is nearly unequaled.

Injuries have derailed him so far this season, only playing in three games and carried the ball just 24 times.

He's averaging about 40 yards per contest and that certainly isn't on par with where you drafted him, if he's on your team.

Peyton Hillis

5 of 8

Madden's cover boy has done little to warrant that honor or the spot you probably drafted him.

Through four Browns games, Hillis has played in three. He is averaging only 3.6 yards per carry and has scored two TDs, but he is on pace to fall well under the 1,177 yards and 11 TDs he pulled off in 2010-11.

Madden curse?

Felix Jones

6 of 8

The Dallas Cowboys and everyone else should've known better than to depend on Felix Jones. With Marion Barber exiting Dallas, it looked as though Jones would take over and employ his game-breaking running style full time.

It hasn't worked out that way.

He isn't guaranteed to get 1,000 yards this season as he is on pace to just scrape that plateau. That is only 200 yards above the 800 yards he rushed for in 2010-11, when he split carries.

Brandon Marshall

7 of 8

Brandon Marshall was supposed to be the Calvin Johnson in Miami. He definitely has the yards as he is on pace for 1,200 yards receiving, but he only has one TD. That is gold in fantasy and Marshall isn't producing there.

Nevermind the mind-boggling comments.

Shonn Greene

8 of 8

Shonn Greene was expected to deliver his first 1,000-yard rushing season. He is not on pace to deliver that and he has been the main player suffering from the Jets' inability to create blocks for the run.

Greene is averaging 3.3 yards per carry.
