BCS Rankings 2011: Clemson Tigers and 3 Teams Sure to Be Underrated

Tim KeeneyOct 16, 2011

The BCS Rankings are set to come out tonight for the first time in 2011, and the critics of the computer rankings will be in full force.

The rankings always seem to over- and underrate teams, and this will likely be no different.

Here's a look at three teams that will likely be underrated.

Clemson Tigers

The Tigers are a seriously good football team, but I think they are still somehow flying under the radar.

They have worked their way up to a No. 8 ranking, but the BCS computers might not like them quite as much.

First of all, they are likely going to be hurt because they play in the less-than-spectacular ACC conference. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are solid, but other than that there isn't a ton of talent in the conference.

Secondly, two of Clemson's biggest wins are starting to look not as impressive as they did a couple weeks ago.

Auburn has fallen to 24th in the rankings but they have looked inconsistent, and Florida State has completely fallen off after their loss to the Tigers.

Still though, the 23-3 victory at Blacksburg against the Hokies should be seen as one of the best wins of the year so far.

The Tigers have constantly displayed their offensive prowess, but they proved they are good on the other end in that one.

Clemson could easily get passed up by one-loss teams such as Arkansas and Nebraska, and that wouldn't be right.

Boise State Broncos

It wouldn't be true BCS Rankings if the Broncos weren't underrated in some way.

Boise State has run all over their competition so far this year, but the strength of schedule will likely force the computers to bring them down in the standings.

Still though, the Broncos have rolled over everyone they've faced, they've won four of their six games on the road, and they rolled over No. 18 Georgia in Atlanta.

Their poor strength of schedule shouldn't necessary help them, but it shouldn't hurt them as much as it probably will.

Kansas State Wildcats

The Wildcats are likely going to get very little respect for a team that is 6-0 and 3-0 in a very good Big-12 Conference.

They've squeaked out wins in their last four, but they are wins nonetheless.

And it's not like they've been playing North South MidWestern State, either. They've beat Miami in Florida, Baylor, Missouri and Texas Tech at Lubbock in the last four weeks.

The Wildcats are likely to fall out of the Top 10 in the computer rankings, but they deserve to be up there with the rest of the undefeated teams.
