Daniel Thomas: Why Fantasy Owners Should Leave the Rookie on Their Bench

A bad matchup. A questionable skill set. A game-time decision for a Monday night start. These don't spell out a recipe for a good fantasy day. 

And that's why you need to bench Daniel Thomas. He's just not going to get it done tomorrow night.

The New York Jets are giving up just 4.2 yards per carry, which is about average, but they are a much better defensive squad than average.

They have gotten away from their normal game plans this year and haven't focused as much on the running game on either side of the ball. Look for them to control the line of scrimmage in this one.

The Dolphins are averaging a meager 4.3 yards per carry this season and will be lucky to get that on Monday Night Football.

Throw in the fact that the Jets will likely get ahead early and the Dolphins will have to play catch up through the air, and this is a bad matchup for any Miami running back banking on a lot of carries.

It's just not an ideal situation for Daniel Thomas.

And that's if he was 100 percent healthy.

He's not 100 percent healthy.

The rookie out of Kansas State has already garnered the reputation of being injury prone and his current hamstring problems leave him questionable for tomorrow night's game.

Not just questionable, actually. He's the dreaded game-time decision. And on Monday night, when you don't have any viable options to replace him, that's not a good thing to bank on.

Unless you have Reggie Bush who you can plug in for Thomas at the last minute, you need to get him out of your lineup now.

In fact, Bush is a better option than Thomas even if the rookie does play. The Dolphins will likely have to throw the ball a lot and Bush is their passing down back.

Matt Moore is going to have a tough time and he'll have to dump it off to Bush whenever possible.

Whatever your situation may be, Thomas is a deeper league option only. Play accordingly.
