Michael Vick Injury: Update on Eagles Star's Head Injury

Alex KayOct 16, 2011

Michael Vick briefly left the game against the Eagles’ Week 6 game against the Washington Redskins after suffering a devastating helmet-to-helmet hit.

The Eagles’ QB was shaken up by a monster hit from safety LaRon Landry in which he drove his helmet into Vick’s as he was diving to the ground.

Vick would leave the game for a series as backup Vince Young came in and threw an interception.

When the Eagles forced their own turnover, Vick returned to the field on the next possession.

Fantasy Impact

Vick should be set to continue playing the rest of the day as team doctors obviously found the injury not to be a concussion.

Who’s the Backup?

Young is obviously not a solid backup option as he came in and immediately threw an interception in his first meaningful action with the team.

Mike Kafka, who replaced Vick earlier in the season, is inactive so Young would come back in if Vick were to head back to the sidelines.

Devastation Scale (1-10)

3. Vick missed the rest of that series and Young threw a costly interception. Fortunately for the Eagles, the Redskins did not capitalize and Rex Grossman threw one right back.

Vick is back in and should be fine if he can continue to avoid hard hits on scrambles.

Timeline for Return

Vick is already back in the game and making plays.

What They’re Saying

ProFootballTalk.com has an update from Laura Okmin saying that Vick wasn’t injured but just had dirt in his eyes.
