BenJarvus Green-Ellis Will Get Shut Down by Dallas Cowboys D
BenJarvus Green-Ellis won’t be able to keep his hot streak alive against the Dallas Cowboys front-seven. He is coming off his two best games of the season, but don’t believe the hype. Matchups were the key to his recent success and against the Cowboys, he’ll be outmatched.
First off, Green-Ellis will be held back by an injury so he’ll most likely split carries with Stevan Ridley. Plus, Danny Woodhead is expected to make his return to the playing field on Sunday. Those factors and more will lead to a disappointing day statistic wise for Green-Ellis.
Against the Oakland Raiders in Week 4, he rushed for 75 yards on 4.7 yards a pop and a touchdown. Oakland has the 22nd ranked run defense, that’s not too impressive of a feat.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The next week against the New York Jets, Green-Ellis blew up rushing for 136 yards on 5.0 yards a carry and added two touchdowns. While the Jets usually have a beastly run defense, they’ve surrendered 134.8 yards per game on the ground so basically Green-Ellis just performed on par compared to how other backs have played this season vs. New York.
Dallas’ defense is a different animal. Ranked first in the entire NFL, they only allow 61.8 yards on the ground a game. And no, they aren’t just rated so well because teams torch their secondary; opposing backs have only averaged 3.1 yards per carry on the Cowboys, also a league-low.
If you have BenJarvus Green-Ellis on your fantasy football team, sit him. If you can’t decide whether to wear your Green-Ellis or Stevan Ridley jersey to the game today, go with Ridley. Green-Ellis is a solid halfback, but he isn’t talented enough to put up big numbers against any and all defenses; he needs the right matchup to break out.
