Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings: BenJarvus Green-Ellis and RBs You Should Avoid

Alex KayOct 16, 2011

Decent running backs are hard to come by at this point in fantasy football, but you can certainly do better than BenJarvus Green-Ellis and some other running backs this week.

Let’s take a look at the backs who usually are No. 2 or 3s in a standard fantasy league who won’t live up to their normal production in Week 6.

The Law Firm is listed as questionable on the Patriots’ injury report.

He also has a number of other issues this week that make it questionable he will score points for a fantasy team.

Dallas is the No. 1 rushing defense in football, giving up just a shade over 60 yards per game and it will be tough for Green-Ellis to break through against them.

It also doesn’t help that he plays for the team with the worst passing defense in the league and they will need to throw the ball to stay in and win the game.

Bench Green-Ellis this week and wait for the Pats to have a more favorable matchup before you start him.

Felix Jones

Felix isn’t a great option for many of the same reasons Green-Ellis isn’t.

The Patriots are decent against the run but have proven time and time again that you can beat them through the air.

Dallas is obviously going to exploit this matchup with Dez Bryant and Miles Austin getting a ton of targets and the Cowboys should employ a pass-first offense against the Patriots.

Jones will get his touches but I can’t see it being more than 16 or so unless the team pulls away with a big lead, which isn’t likely.

Tim Hightower

This guy may be done with the re-emergence of Ryan Torain. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury through the bye week and will not be getting the majority of carries in Week 6 against the Eagles.

This is a product of Mike Shanahan’s unpredictable and constant rearranging of his RB platoon, something we expected in the preseason.

Bench Hightower this week as he won’t touch the ball enough to be an effective fantasy point scorer.
