Was the WWE What Was Keeping Matt and Jeff Hardy Out of Trouble
It's no secret that both members of the super popular tag team The Hardy Boys have had their issues. Jeff was the more publicized brother for his problems for years, but recently he has taken a back seat to his older brother Matt.
For a long time, it seemed Matt was the level-headed brother who was going to have the longer career, but with the last two years worth of events we have seen that they both have their problems.
Drugs, alcohol and personal issues have plagued both men's lives to the point where they have both lost jobs over not being able to handle their addictions and personal problems.
Matt has stated he will no longer be an active wrestler and hopes to open a school for wrestlers, but Jeff is still a wrestler and he will be making his way back into the TNA fold soon.
Jeff seemed like he was finally on the right path for the year before his departure from WWE. He was staying clean, winning titles and having the best feuds of his career.
Matt, for years, had been a reliable hand with WWE and even had a good push in 2007-2008, but he never broke through to the same level as his brother.
The WWE's schedule is pretty heavy, and they have wellness policies and random drug tests to keep their wrestlers both healthy and honest.
These two things combined with being on the road with their friends could have been what kept the Hardys out of trouble.
Once Jeff left WWE he was arrested within weeks, and Matt took to Youtube and Twitter to get WWE to let him out of his contract.
These men were once the cream of the crop in WWE's tag team division, and they have both had great singles careers as well. Once they left WWE, they seemed to go downhill, although some would argue that Matt's decline started before he left.
The two risk takers have put on some of the most memorable matches in WWE, and will always have a legacy of bringing tag team wrestling and ladder match variations to the forefront of WWE during the attitude era, but I have to wonder if there is still hope for them to come back and be as good as they have been in the past.
Neither man is the best on the mic or on the mat, but they gave fans more than just wrestling, they gave them a circus of wild colored hair, high-flying moves and some of the best bumps on the business.
I hope for these men's sake that they find their way back to happiness, and Jeff seems to be on his way there now. Matt is currently in WWE-sponsored rehab so we will see how that works for him.
Do I expect to see them back in WWE anytime soon? No, but do I think they could find success in TNA or ROH? Yes.
Hulk Hogan has gone on record lately saying Jeff Hardy is the future of TNA as long as he keeps his act together, and this may be true if he gets his in ring work back up to the standard he was at when he left WWE.
Matt is another story, as he was released from TNA so I don't expect him back anytime soon, but he could play a big part in the wrestling world if his school ends up opening and he gets a good crop of students.
What do you think, is there hope for the Hardy's?
