NFL Trade Rumors: Potential Fantasy Impact of Brandon Lloyd to St. Louis Rams

According to Pro Football Talk, the St. Louis Rams are making a push to acquire Denver Broncos' receiver Brandon Lloyd.  Lloyd is coming off of a Pro Bowl season, where he led the league in receiving yards.  The NFL trade deadline is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Lloyd has done a nice job in Denver, but his career has been filled with disappointment.  He has bounced around the NFL, showing promise but never fulfilling it.  It is nice to see him finally live up to some of that potential, but can he be counted on long term?  I think this is the reason Denver is considering moving their top receiver.

The St. Louis Rams are having a terrible season, partly due to several impact injuries.  However, one of the biggest problems is the lack of offensive playmakers.  The Rams decided not to pursue a big-time offensive weapon, leaving Sam Bradford with limiting options.

St. Louis' interest in Lloyd makes a lot of sense.  He would immediately be the top receiver on the Rams roster.  Bradford would welcome Lloyd's pass-catching ability.  He has a tendency of making tough catches, helping his quarterback.

If Lloyd lands with the St. Louis Rams, his fantasy value would increase.  Bradford is having a bit of a sophomore slump, but is still a better passer than any of the Broncos quarterbacks.  He has been able to elevate the play of the people around him. 

The likes of Danny Amendola and Mark Clayton have been able to find success thanks to Bradford.

If you're a Lloyd owner you should be hoping that he is traded, as his upside is limited in Denver.  In Denver, Lloyd has to deal with the quarterback controversy between Tim Tebow and Kyle Orton.

Tebow may be able to win a few football games, but nobody really sees him as a prolific passer.  He is going to be looking to make plays with his legs.  Lloyd's fantasy value will high if he lands on a team with a pass-first quarterback.
