5 Fantasy Football Situations to Watch Coming out of the Week 6 NFL Bye
It’s that time of year. Fantasy football owners are scrambling to fill holes in their lineup as Arizona, Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Seattle and Tennessee are on bye.
Here are some things to keep an eye on when they get back to action.
1. What Will Tim Tebow Do?

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Tebow fans asked for it and now they’ll get to see what he can do. He ran for a touchdown and passed for another as he nearly led the Broncos over the Chargers.
In three starts last year, he averaged 66.7 rushing yards with a touchdown run each game. That’s 12 fantasy points without attempting a pass. I’m not expecting him to set the world on fire through the air, but with Brandon Lloyd and Eric Decker, he’ll be able to move the chains.
Look for some W’s…from fantasy owners that is.
2. Will Antonio Gates Be Back?
We aren’t getting a clear answer from Gates and though his pain threshold is quiet high, I get the feeling that he’s had enough already with the foot. He said he won’t return before his foot is ready.
Obviously you can’t drop him, but until he gives us the green light, you just have to get by without him. Even when he does play, you have to always worry about him aggravating the injury.
3. Can Chris Johnson Become an Elite Back Again?
I’m sure Tennessee isn’t exactly thrilled that they broke the bank for a guy averaging 50.0 rushing yards per game. Especially when he has been held under 55 yards in four of the games (under 25 in two).
He should get going after the break. He faces Indianapolis twice, Carolina, Tampa Bay and Buffalo. There should be some big days ahead for the running back formerly known as CJ2K. It’s a good time to try to trade for him.
4. Can Beanie Wells Keep It Up?
Beanie is on pace for 1,219 yards and 19 touchdowns. He’s also on pace for 300-plus carries. That is assuming that he can stay healthy the rest of the way. Pretty big "if" considering his track record.
While I don’t expect anywhere near 19 TDs from Beanie, doubling his present total to a dozen is not out of reach. He has two tough matchups out of the gate against Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Then it's a mixed bag with easy (Rams twice, Eagles) and hard (Niners twice, Cowboys).
He finishes off with dates against the Browns and Bengals in Week 15 and 16. On paper, that’s four good matchups and six bad ones. Now could be the best time to trade him, though after Week 12 is ideal too.
5. Can Matt Hasselbeck Keep It Up?
Hasselbeck is averaging 282.8 passing yards per game with nine touchdowns to four picks. He has a passer rating of 95.9, which is the second-best mark of his lengthy NFL career. I don’t expect the production to continue.
The Titans are going to focus on getting Chris Johnson on track. They are in a very winnable division and they need their playmaker to do what he does best. Hasselbeck has continued strong play without Kenny Britt, but it’s hard to imagine that he can continue to post such solid numbers without a true No. 1 option in the passing game.
Plus, he’s 36. His body may feel great now, but with the pounding that quarterbacks take, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see him slow down as the season wears on. I still think he’ll be a solid backup because they given him great protection and I expect a strong running game here on out.
I just don’t expect QB1 numbers from him.
