NFL Picks Week 6: The Buffalo Bills and 4 More Guaranteed Road Victors

The Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints will all earn much needed road victories.  Some of the above teams need the wins more than others, but every game is important in the NFL.  The Bills and Eagles are trying to prove themselves and put themselves in a better place for a playoff berth.  While, the Saints are trying to hand a division rival a devastating loss.  Winning games on the road is not an easy thing to accomplish in the NFL.

Today's game versus the New York Giants is another chance for the Bills to make a statement.  Each week, the Bills earn more and more respect.  A big road victory against a strong opponent will only add more confidence.

Buffalo is among the league leaders in takeaways.  They have played very aggressively, while taking advantage of every opportunity.  Fortunately, they are taking on a Giants team that is very prone to turnovers.  Every week, Eli Manning and his receiving corps seem to make a mistake that results in a costly turnover.  The interceptions are combined with Ahmad Bradshaw's tendency to fumble the football.

NFL games are often won or loss because of turnovers.

Each week, Cam Newton proves that he is already an NFL star.  He is playing with a ton of confidence, showing he was worthy of the No. 1 overall selection.  His ability to make plays through the air has changed the mind of many doubters.  Newton has the Panthers playing competitive football, appearing ready to rattle off a few victories.

Opposing quarterbacks have been able to find success versus the Atlanta Falcons.  They are surrendering an average of nearly 300 passing yards per game.  The cornerback tandem of Brent Grimes and Dunta Robinson have been unable to shutdown the pass.  This is enhanced by the fact that Atlanta is struggling to create pressure.  Newton will have a big game, and will end up leading the Panthers to a big road victory.

This is a must win game for the Philadelphia Eagles. A playoff berth seems less likely with each loss suffered.  Philadelphia is facing the division rival Washington Redskins, who would love nothing more than to add to the Eagles problems.  Washington is winning games because of their defense and running attack.

Philadelphia is going to have to find a way to stop the run if they hope to earn the win.  I suspect we will see more run blitzes by the Eagles defense, forcing Rex Grossman to beat them through the air.  The Eagles have the corners capable of playing man defense, so it's time to bring the pressure.

Tampa Bay is not going to be able to score enough points to stay with the Saints. Normally, they would try to control the clock with their running game.  However, LeGarrette Blount is out with an injury leaving the rushing duties to Kregg Lumpkin.

The lack of a running game will force the ball into the hands of Josh Freeman.  Freeman is a good quarterback, but he is bound to make a few mistakes.  The Saints defense specializes in creating pressure and turnovers.  The more attempts for Freemen, the more opportunities for a mistake.
