NFL Picks Week 6: Dallas Cowboys and 3 Teams Headed for Losing Records

Jon DoveOct 16, 2011

The Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all going to suffer a Week 6 defeat. At the beginning of the season, each of these teams had high hopes to make the playoffs.

However, those dreams become less of a reality, as the losses pile up.  Both Atlanta and Tampa Bay knew they would have a tough road, but each were confident after a good 2010 season.

It is never easy to travel to New England and face Tom Brady.  The Dallas Cowboys have the unenviable task of trying to slow down that Patriots offense.

Tom Brady has just been lights-out, almost looking unstoppable.  His ability to put pressure on the opposing team is unmatched.  Tony Romo is going to be feeling a ton of pressure to keep pace with the Patriots offense.

Romo has shown that he doesn't do a good job with pressure.  His struggles will be magnified with each New England Patriots touchdown.  Dallas doesn't have enough of a running game to control the clock and help take pressure off of Romo.  The result of this game will fall on the shoulders of Tony Romo.

Atlanta Falcons

Each week the Detroit Lions earn a victory, the more difficult it is for teams to earn a playoff berth.  They are making an early push to win either their division or a wild card slot.  This puts a lot of pressure on the Atlanta Falcons, who are already two games behind division leader New Orleans.

Atlanta has started the season playing very sloppy football.  Defensively, they have struggled to make sound tackles.  The poor tackling has resulted in a more than a few big plays.

On the offensive side of the ball, Atlanta has been unable to establish a consistent running game.  Opposing defenses are putting extra men in the box, and Matt Ryan has been unable to take advantage.

The Falcons look primed for a big letdown, as they take on the Carolina Panthers.  The Panthers and Cam Newton have been playing very good football, despite their 1-4 start.  Newton and Steve Smith will make just enough plays to pull off the upset.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay is in the same boat as the Atlanta Falcons.  They were hoping to make a strong playoff push, but have had a slow start to the season.

The news has only gotten worse, as they have lost LeGarrette Blount to an injury.  Their cow-bell running back will be out for several weeks.  The Buccaneers do not have a very good running back depth.  The rushing load will be split between Kregg Lumpkin and Earnest Graham.

The lack of a running game will put a ton of pressure on Josh Freeman, who has not looked great so far this season.
