Week 6 Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Last Minute Players to Plug and Play

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballOct 16, 2011

We are just hours before kickoff and here are a list of fantasy football players that have favorable matchups in Week 6. If you own these guys, find a way to plug them into your lineup...you won't be disappointed.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo Bills) @ New York Giants

After starting the season with nine touchdown passes over the first three games of the season, Fitzpatrick has thrown just one touchdown pass over the last two games and failed to throw for 200 yards in either contest.

Week 6 brings a chance for a rebound against the New York Giants, who have allowed over 300 passing yards in three of five games this season. That includes 315 yards to Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst of the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5, and it’s safe to say Fitzpatrick is more talented than that duo and has better receivers at his disposal even with Donald Jones (ankle) out.

The Giants have only allowed five passing touchdowns so far this season, but they have allowed two touchdown passes in a game twice. Fitzpatrick should easily be able to bounce back this week, and thus makes for a very solid QB1.

Darren Sproles (New Orleans Saints) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Sproles had 11 carries for 51 yards and five receptions for 40 yards against the Carolina Panthers, as he led the Saints running backs in carries in the game. He has been one of the biggest threats in the Saints offense to this point in the season, with 449 total yards (185 rushing) along with 31 receptions, and now gets a favorable looking matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week.

The Buccaneers allowed 194 rushing yards to the San Francisco 49ers running backs in Week 5, and have allowed over 25 fantasy points to opposing running backs twice this season. The fact New Orleans is likely to use Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas in a rotation with Sproles limits his upside some, but he can still be used as a flex play in standard leagues and a low-end RB2 in PPR formats this week.

A.J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Indianapolis Colts

Green had five receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, and has now posted double-digit fantasy points in four out of his first five NFL games. A favorable matchup is coming this week against the Indianapolis Colts, so he should continue to be very productive.

The Colts have allowed 26.8 fantasy points per game (tied for third-most in the league) to opposing wide receivers so far this season and have been particularly vulnerable to the opposing team’s top wide receiver, as Andre Johnson, Mike Wallace and Dwayne Bowe have all had success against them this season.

Green clearly fills that role for the Bengals, and as such is a solid choice as a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2 this week.
