Auburn Football: Predicting the Tigers' BCS Ranking
Last season for Auburn, it was not a matter of if the Tigers would be ranked when the BCS rankings came out—it was a matter of if they would be No. 1 every week.
This season is a little different for the Tigers. Auburn came into this week ranked No. 24 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll, and after a solid showing in a 17-6 victory against Florida, Auburn does not have to worry about whether it will be ranked in tomorrow's BCS rankings. Just where it will be ranked.
The BCS rankings are compiled by putting one third of the weight of the Harris Poll, a third on the USA Today Coaches Poll and a final third in computer polls.
Currently the Tigers are No. 26 in the Harris Poll. They are likely to move up after defeating No. 25 Florida and with losses to teams in front of them such as Baylor.
The computer rankings are likely to help Auburn who has already taken on the likes of Mississippi St, Clemson, South Carolina, Arkansas and Florida, having beaten three of those five ranked opponents.
That computer ranking and the fact that Auburn has played five teams so far this season who have been ranked will certainly help boost the Tigers in the rankings.
Even though they have two losses, it would not be surprising to see Auburn crack the Top 20. They are certain to rise in all of the rankings and with the exception of LSU have played possibly the toughest schedule in the country.
Auburn should be sitting at No. 20 in tomorrow's initial BCS rankings.
