NFL Picks Week 6: New Orleans and Road Teams That Will Silence Home Crowds

Michael MillOct 15, 2011

Home-field advantage is often an overlooked aspect on gameday.

Even teams that may not be feared like other powerhouses have some of the most feared stadiums in the league.

No team likes traveling to play in Seattle, or heading to Arrowhead to take on the Chiefs.

A crazy home crowd is a huge advantage—one that isn't given enough attention.

However, that doesn't mean those crowds can't be quieted.

Here are three away teams that will silence home crowds this weekend.

Minnesota Vikings

Sunday Night Football will consist of a matchup for the last place spot in the NFC North.

The Vikings travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears.

The Bears are clearly the better team out of the two, but the matchup may favor the Vikings.

The Bears have only found success running the football. The Vikings have the fourth-ranked rushing defense in the league.

The Bears have struggled stopping the run. Adrian Peterson ranks second in the league in rushing.

Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton has taken the league by storm with his sensational performance as a rookie.

This weekend he heads home to Atlanta to take on the Falcons.

The Falcons may be the favorite, but they have struggled stopping the pass all season. This game will likely turn into a shootout.

Newton has shown he can step up to the plate when the game is put on his shoulders.

New Orleans Saints

Last week the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were embarrassed by San Francisco 49ers by a score of 48-3.

The whooping taught us all two things.

First, the 49ers may be the real deal. Second, the Buccaneers are nowhere close to being as good as we thought they were.

The Saints haven't really gotten the attention that teams like Green Bay and New England have so far this year, but they are having just as good of a season.

It should take only one quarter for Drew Brees to have this game well in hand.
