Brandon Lloyd Would Play Himself into Pro Bowl with Move to Titans, Texans

Andrew KulhaOct 15, 2011

There hasn't been to talk about concerning the 2011 NFL trade deadline, but the one player who has come up almost ad nauseum is Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd.

It all started yesterday when Mike Klis of the Denver Post recently reported the Broncos were interested in trading away Lloyd, stating:

"

With the NFL trade deadline looming, the Broncos have been in talks with other teams regarding Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Lloyd, according to three NFL sources.

He went on to suggest that the Broncos were only expecting a mid-round pick in return for Lloyd—a pretty reasonable price:

"

Three or four teams, including Tennessee and Carolina, have expressed interest in Lloyd, according to a source. The Broncos are hoping for a third- to fifth-round draft pick in return.

Trade talks are not expected to pick until after this week's games Sunday and Monday are played.

"

Anybody who has ever seen Lloyd play knows that this is an incredibly cheap price for the Denver's biggest playmaker.

There have been a few teams that have been reportedly interested in Lloyd, but many more have been speculated as good landing spots for the receiver as well.

There is no doubt Brandon Lloyd can be great. In fact, I think a change of scenery to these two allegedly speculated locations would actually lead Lloyd right to the Pro Bowl:

Tennessee Titans

The Titans are in desperate need of a wideout, and Lloyd may be a great fit at this price. Chris Johnson is starting to find his running legs, and veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has been surprisingly effective this season.

Kenny Britt, however, is lost for the year due to a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee, which would immediately make Lloyd the No. 1 option for Tennessee. It would be a Pro Bowl fit.

This is just pure speculation on my part, but if the Titans are interested in Lloyd, I can imagine the Texans would be too, seeing as they are currently in a two-team race for the AFC South.

The Texans currently have Andre Johnson on the sidelines, so Lloyd would be a tremendous stop-gap measure.

Further, when Lloyd comes back the two would be an incredible duo for quarterback Matt Schaub. Those two receivers plus Arian Foster in the backfield would immediately make the Texans contenders in my opinion, and would be yet another Pro Bowl fit for Lloyd.
