Week 6 Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Which Redskins Will Produce?

Josh MartinOct 15, 2011

The impact that Sunday's game between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles will have on the NFL as a whole is pretty clear—a win for the 'Skins puts them firmly in the driver's seat in the NFC East while a loss for the Eagles sends them into their bye at 1-5 with some ominous questions left to answer.

But what will the fantasy football world make of it? Washington should win, but which of the Redskins' fantasy impact players will help YOU claim victory this week?

START: Tim Hightower, RB

It's tough to tell which running back will get the bulk of the love (and the carries) from Mike Shanahan from week to week.

Then again, that shouldn't matter too much against an Eagles defense that gives up 5.0 yards per carry, 140.2 rushing yards per game and, most importantly, more fantasy points to opposing running backs of any team in the league.

Ryan Torain is a tempting pick here after his 135-yard, two-touchdown performance in Week 4, but Tim Hightower is still far and away the 'Skins' leader in rush attempts and figures to get the bulk of the carries once again in Week 6.

SIT: Santana Moss, WR

Judging who to hang onto in Washington's passing game is a tough task, though it wouldn't exactly be unwise (nice double-negative, right?) to leave Santana Moss out of your lineup.

Moss is in the midst of a pretty good season for the 'Skins (246 yards, two touchdowns), but may find life against Philly a bit difficult, just as fellow No. 1's Stevie Johnson, Michael Crabtree, Hakeem Nicks and Roddy White have over the last four weeks.

START: Jabar Gaffney, WR

All the attention paid to Moss should open up more opportunities for Jabar Gaffney, whose numbers (238 yards, one touchdown) are comparable to Moss' thus far.

Gaffney also happens to be fairly widely available in most leagues. As such, if you're snooping around the waiver wire for some extra production to shore up your fantasy team for the week, be sure to give Gaffney a good, long look.
