NFL Picks Week 6: Packers vs. Rams and Games That Will Get Ugly Fast

Josh SchochOct 15, 2011

We've all seen blowouts, but these three Week 6 games are going to get ugly.  It's not fun to see one team beat up on another (most of the time), but that's exactly what's going to happen in these three games.

Cleveland Browns at Oakland Raiders

The Cleveland Browns may be 2-2, but that's more because of an easy schedule than anything else.  The Browns' only wins have come against the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins, and both of those games were close.  If you really want to see the Browns, then you should have seen them play the Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans.

The Browns have a below-average passing game and a pathetic run game.  They have allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards per game, but that's because opponents are usually killing clock by running the ball.

The Browns give up 125.4 rushing yards per game, and this week they face Darren McFadden.  McFadden and the Raiders average the second-most rushing yards per game at 161.8, and are about to go off for close to 200 this week.

If the Raiders play inspired football like they did last week in their 25-20 win over the Houston Texans, then the Browns are in for a long day.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

I hate to say it but the New York Jets may be the best 2-3 team in the league, and they are going to look like it against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

The Dolphins will be without starting quarterback Chad Henne, and that bodes well for the Jets, who have the fifth-best passing defense in the NFL.

The Dolphins can't stop opponents, letting up over 400 yards per game, and the Jets will be able to have a field day against them.  Look for touchdowns both from the defense and the offense of the Jets against the 0-4 Dolphins.

St. Louis Rams at Green Bay Packers

Whenever you have an 0-4 team travel to take on a 5-0 team you're usually not going to have a close game.  The Packers are the reigning Super Bowl champs for a reason, and they're going to show why once again this week against the Rams.

The poor Rams have to try to stop Aaron Rodgers and the rest of Green Bay's potent offense in a game where the line is more than two touchdowns.  Ouch.

The Rams surrender an average of 300 passing yards per game, and this week that will rise to over 400 for Rodgers.

There isn't much to say about this game, just that the Packers are incredible and that the Rams kind of suck.  It's not the most sophisticated language, but it's true.
