BCS Rankings Week 8: 5 Teams That Don't Deserve Their BCS Love
With the BCS Rankings being revealed Sunday, it’s time to analyze the teams that don’t deserve the love they are being showered with by the BCS computers.
There are teams that are ranked way too high right now, and they will not be ranked that high when the rest of the season shakes out.
These teams, as well as the BCS ranking system will be exposed as the jokes they really are.
LSU
The LSU Tigers are one of the best teams in the nation, but they have done nothing to show that they are a better team than Alabama or Oklahoma.
The respect that LSU gets is because they beat a mediocre Oregon team in Week 1 and they play in a tough SEC conference.
If LSU can beat Alabama in November, they will earn their spot as top team in the nation, but that is the only way.
Michigan
After getting beat by in-state rival Michigan State, the Michigan Wolverines don’t have the same aura around them now that they are not undefeated.
While Denard Robinson will still be one of the most dynamic players in college football, his team’s defense will strike no fear in any team across the nation.
The Wolverines don’t have a very tough schedule moving forward, but they need to get their team in order before they continue to lose.
Oregon
The Oregon Ducks are the most overrated team in the nation, and the program has beat no team of worth so far this season.
Saturday night will be the biggest test the squad has faced since losing to LSU in Week 1, and if Oregon loses tonight their BCS hopes are shot.
Injuries and an overall lack of defensive talent will be severe enough to keep Oregon from making any real noise in the BCS standings later this season.
Nebraska
While Nebraska may have one of the best running back tandems in the nation with Rex Burkhead and Taylor Martinez, it’s not enough to be a real threat at the end of the season.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are a solid offensive team, but their lack of a serious defense will not allow them to go very far in a weak Big Ten conference.
If the Huskers can tighten up their defense and continue to run strong, that will be the only way they can justify their love from the BCS computer.
Auburn
The Auburn Tigers have a dedicated following, but that doesn’t mean much when they have an utter lack of talent on both sides of the ball.
After the departure of Cam Newton and several other key players the Tigers are not the team they were last season, and the respect they get this season is entirely based off of last season’s success.
If Auburn wants to earn the respect they’re getting, they need to show consistency on the offense and more grit on the defense, or even last year’s success can’t help them in the BCS standings.
