NFL Picks Week 6: Detroit Lions and Other Teams on Upset Alert

There is a reason games are played every week.

Despite all the rationalization, any team can walk away with a victory on any given Sunday.

It may sound cliche', but it is true.

Here are three teams on upset alert in Week 6 action.

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are probably the No. 1 team that has been talked about in terms of possible upsets this weekend.

Rookie sensation Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers come into Atlanta with a 1-4 record. They may be the best 1-4 team in the league.

This one is expected to be a shootout between Newton and Matt Ryan.

The way that the Panthers have been overachieving and the Falcons have been underachieving, don't be surprised to see Carolina on top when the game ends.

Philadelphia Eagles

I'm not completely sure what the thought process was behind this one, but the Philadelphia Eagles are actually favored to beat the Washington Redskins by three points this weekend.

This is a Philadelphia team that has turned the ball over more in the first five games than fans can count.

It's a Washington team that is ranked third in the league in points allowed.

The Eagles can't stop the run to save their lives. The Redskins rely on a heavy dose of running the ball and controlling the clock.

Not only are the Redskins the better team, they are favored in terms of matchups as well.

Detroit Lions

I'm a big believer in the undefeated Detroit Lions. I think they are the real deal and will make a run in the playoffs this season.

I'm also a believer in the San Francisco 49ers.

Jim Harbaugh has turned this 49ers team around into something that nobody thought was possible as quickly as he did.

The 49ers aren't going to wow you with stats, but they are efficient in winning games. They rely on a tough, second-ranked scoring defense and capitalize off mistakes.

The Lions are probably the better team, but this is a 49ers team I wouldn't count out of any game right now.
