WWE Smackdown Results: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Justin WatryOct 15, 2011

I did not enjoy this edition of Smackdown too much. To be perfectly honest with all of you, it was fine for a "one off," but it had nothing that you really cared for by the end of the two hours.

The Good

I do not even need to bring this up, but Mark Henry continues to be the best performer on WWE TV. He is the story of 2011. Outside of Punk this summer, and The Rock returning, it is not even close.

His build up with Big Show was again, great. These two have the perfect grudge feud going. It is all about revenge here (with the World title as the endgame), and that is all these two need.

Vengeance is going to be a great atmosphere. Being in Texas, I hope Mark Henry gets plenty of heel heat and that no home state stragglers jump on his bandwagon.

The Bad

The PPV build for Vengeance next weekend was terrible, outside of Show/Henry. We can assume a few matches will be added on their tour of Mexico, but nothing was made to get fans excited for next Sunday.

Again, I think we can assume a couple of new matches, but that doesn't matter. WWE did not announce anything, and the PPV is in eight days already. I understand all plans are leading towards Survivor Series with The Rock, but just ignoring PPV shows is not cool.

The Ugly

Please WWE! No more battle royals in 2011! I do not want to see one more of these things. I love the concept, but running it into the ground every month is not going to fly with me.

The next over the top rope battle royal better be in late January. The 41-man battle royal to open Smackdown wasn't a bad match at all. It was fine, but the constant multi-man matches is wearing thin on my head. It needs to stop. Please! No more this year...

Outside of that, this was a decent show. Sheamus vs. Del Rio was too short to mean anything, and the Swagger/Ziggler segment was just "there." Orton and Cody should be a fun feud. Sin Cara vs. Sinister Cara has a little bit of life left in it—but not much. The divas were great. The ring woman won, and it looks like a new feud may be starting soon.

Again, the entire show was OK, but it featured nothing that you just "had" to see the next day, and it will be very interesting to see how their Mexico shows come across on TV next Monday and Friday night. Then it is all about WWE Vengeance...
