Michigan vs Michigan State Uniforms: Wolverines' Jerseys Outshine Spartans'
In a game with major BCS consequences, it was the uniforms of Michigan and Michigan State that stole the show. The Wolverines had a more traditional look from Adidas while the Spartans decided to use a more unique jersey from the Nike Pro Combat collection.
Unfortunately for fans of Michigan's jerseys, sports business guru Darren Rovell passed along some bad news.
That's a head-scratching decision by Michigan and Adidas. You would figure the jerseys would sell well just based on wearing them in a rivalry game.
It's nice for Adidas to still have a presence in major college football because some of Nike's Pro Combat ideas have been more outlandish. It's good to remain closer to tradition sometimes. Especially for a storied school like Michigan.
That said, Michigan State's apparel wasn't all bad. The helmet really looked good in contrast with the dark jerseys, but probably wouldn't look as good paired with white uniforms. And the one thing Nike seemingly always does well is gloves.
What's more annoying than anything else is how often teams are changing uniforms, especially teams like Oregon that have an endless amount of options.
The focus should be on the game, not which jerseys a team is going to wear that week.
Michigan might have had the cooler jerseys on Saturday, but they would have traded that for a win every day of the week. The loss puts a serious dent into their BCS hopes and Denard Robinson was forced to leave the game late due to injury.
On second thought, maybe it's a good idea they aren't going to sell those jerseys.
