NFL Predictions Week 6: Buffalo Bills and 5 Teams Who Will Be 5-1

Josh SchochOct 15, 2011

The Buffalo Bills are off to a surprisingly good start, and they will be 5-1 after Week 6 of the NFL season, along with these four other teams.  All five teams will be in the hunt for the playoffs after Week 6, and it would have been ridiculous to have said that some of these teams would be 5-1 after six weeks.

San Francisco 49ers

This is one of the teams that we thought would have struggled, but they have come out strong.  The 49ers are led by their ground game both on offense and defense.

The 49ers run the ball well and can bottle up their opponents in the run game.  They rely on interceptions from their secondary to keep opponents out of the end zone, and they have been highly successful so far.  They blew out the Buccaneers 48-3 last week, when the Bucs were 3-1 at the time, and they are poised to beat the Detroit Lions this week.

Detroit Lions

Speaking of the Lions, they too are a surprise team that has gotten off to a 5-0 start.  Unfortunately they are going to fall to the 49ers this week, pushing them down to 5-1.

The Lions have had to rely on Matt Stafford's arm to will them through quite a few comebacks, but they will not be able to do so against the 49ers, whose secondary is more than capable of picking off Stafford.

I see the 49ers going up early and preserving the lead.

The New England Patriots have used their explosive passing offense to get to 4-1 this season.  Led by Tom Brady and Wes Welker, the Patriots have not had any trouble passing the ball this season.

The Pats are hosting the Dallas Cowboys this week, and while I give teams coming off a bye a big edge in most games, beating the Patriots in Gillette Stadium is next to impossible.

The Patriots should cruise to yet another victory, and a 5-1 start.

The Saints are 4-1 this season, and have won four straight games since losing to the Green Bay Packers in the first game of the regular season.

The Saints travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers this week.  The Bucs are 3-2, but I've never seen a more mediocre 3-2 team in my life.

The Saints should exploit their weaknesses (and there are a lot of them) nicely, and we could see another blowout loss for the Bucs, coming off a 48-3 loss against the 49ers.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are our third surprising team on this list.  They have gone 4-1 this season, beating the Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, whose "dream team" has turned into a nightmare.

The Bills take on the Giants this week.  The Bills will run the ball and Fred Jackson will have huge success. They also have Ryan Fitzpatrick to throw the ball, so their offense will be clicking and their defense will be on a roll.

The Giants struggle to run the ball, and the Bills have bottled up the run nicely this season.  They have also forced a lot of turnovers, and seeing Eli Manning throw three interceptions last week has Giants fans nervous, as the Bills had four picks against Tom Brady and Michael Vick.

The Bills will win yet again, and they will be 5-1.
