Russell Wilson Video: Watch Heisman Candidate's TD Catch vs. Indiana
Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson is having a pretty good season. Not only is he the quarterback of an undefeated National Championship contender, his stats are a little more than just impressive.
Coming into today's action, Wilson had completed nearly 75 percent of his passes for nearly 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns to only one pick.
He's also rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
Now, in addition to being a strong passer and capable rusher, Wilson is showing that he can catch the ball too.
Okay, the catch wasn't phenomenal. It was a very well designed play that had a completely overmatched Indiana team completely stumped, but it sure looked pretty.
It wasn't terribly unlike this play from Eric Crouch in 2001. Now, that was in a much bigger game and that play had a lot more to do with Nebraska winning than this one will have to do with Wisconsin's certain victory, but it doesn't change how pretty the play was.
Wisconsin has a tough road ahead, but they are well on their way to an undefeated season. If that happens, they are likely the team that will step into the National Championship Game should Oklahoma or the winner of the LSU vs. Alabama game falter at any point.
Whether that happens or not remains to be seen. But for now, Wilson is a legitimate candidate to bring Wisconsin its third Heisman Trophy winner and first since Ron Dayne in 1999.
That may happen, it may not. It's still too early to be too definitive about anything, but Wilson is almost certain to be a Heisman finalist. So, take a look at that play and realize that we'll be seeing it again.
