Brandon Lloyd Trade Rumors Still Alive and Well Heading into Week 6

Kyle VassaloOct 15, 2011

The Tuesday trade deadline is approaching and Brandon Lloyd trade rumors are still swirling around more than ever. The Broncos are shopping around Lloyd to try to get some value out of him before his contract expires at the end of this season.

According to Pro Football Talk, Michael Lombardi says there is a "90 percent chance" Lloyd won't be a Bronco by next week. The Broncos are asking for a mid-round pick, which a team could see as a bargain rate for the receiver who led the league in receiving a season ago.

The same report pegs Tennessee as a potential landing place for Lloyd. With teams overloading the box to account for Chris Johnson, Matt Hasselbeck has been able to carve up cheating defenses. Prior to Kenny Britt falling to injury, the connection looked like it could become one of the most productive in football.

They are in need of a legitimate No. 1 receiver. With the AFC South wide open and the team being just one big-play receiver away from putting forth a legitimate offense, it makes sense for Tennessee to make the move if the price is right.

Trading for Lloyd may bring them a division championship, and if they can swing him for a fourth or fifth round pick, it's well worth the sacrifice.

The Titans are 3-2 and if they can take down the Texans in Week 7, they're arguably the most likely team to win the division. If they elect to go with the laissez-faire approach and don't make a move for Lloyd, they're going to have trouble getting their vertical passing game going all season.

He's worth the risk for the surprisingly competitive Titans, but they aren't the only team who should make a play for him. For the Rams, who certainly aren't interested in winning the "Suck for Luck" race, bringing in Lloyd would make it so that they don't have the worst array of targets in the league.

Lloyd is going to have suitors and given the tension between Lloyd and the Broncos, it's hard to imagine Tuesday hitting and Lloyd remaining in Denver. That would be more awkward than the quarterback situation the Broncos have.
