NBA Lockout: JaVale McGee Should Stick to Dunking and Stop Tweeting

Richard LangfordOct 15, 2011

Some people prove the notion that there should be a license to Tweet. JaVale McGee is one of those guys. McGee failed to grasp the concept that if you are tweeting something that people will actually care about it is best to make sure you aren't saying something you will quickly regret.

McGee attended the recent NBA lockout meetings. He has not been a regular at these proceedings, and after his appearance on Friday, I am not sure the players will be inviting him back.

The Wizards center showed up with an unassuming attitude. This much was apparent from his first tweet:

With a belly food of scrumptious food, McGee took to mingling. You could say he was getting a feel for the mood of the room and his peers. After gauging this mood, a tweet appeared on his Twitter account saying:

"

“There’s definitely some guys in there saying that they’re ready to fold, but the majority are willing to stand strong.”

"

This is obviously the last thing the players want to come out at this stage of the negotiations. My guess is that a player, or perhaps several players asked McGee what he was doing saying people were ready to fold.

At this point, McGee took to damage control. The tweet was erased from his account and it was replaced with this one:

It is all pretty laughable really. I am not sure how he decided the media was twisting his words by using the word fold after he used the word fold.

And while he deleted his tweet and can choose to hide behind the "my account was hacked defense," he has the problem that he also mentioned it to reporters and places like ESPN have it on tape and video.

I don't think JaVale McGee is currently the most popular player among the circle of NBA players at the moment.
