NFL Picks Week 6: Carolina Panthers over Atlanta Falcons and 3 Guaranteed Upsets

Josh SchochOct 15, 2011

It's been a wild and wacky NFL season through five weeks, and Week 6 will bring us even more upsets.

Maybe it was the NFL lockout, or maybe it's the new pass-happy offenses, but we have seen some incredible games.  There have been an unprecedented number of upsets and comebacks this season, and these three games will be along the same lines.

This will be another game that makes this season wild and wacky.  This would've been considered a huge upset in the preseason, but the Bills actually have the better record this season, going 4-1 while the Giants are 3-2.

Just about every line for this game has the Giants beating the Bills, but the Bills are about to get their first big road victory.

The Giants have been a disappointing 3-2 team, and their record is a bit inflated.  The Giants have a lot of holes when it comes to the run game.  They are not running the ball effectively, and they can't stop the run.

The Bills, on the other hand, defend the pass better than the run and are fourth in the league in rushing yards per game.

The Bills do not have a great defense, but they rely on forcing turnovers.  The Giants may have a problem with turnovers because they have Eli Manning at quarterback; he threw for three interceptions last week against the Seattle Seahawks.

I see the Bills winning this game for sure because of Fred Jackson and Eli Manning.

This also would've been considered a big upset in preseason, yet not so much now.  The Redskins lead the NFC East at 3-1, but they are still projected to lose to the Eagles by most betting sites.

The Redskins may not have a great quarterback in Rex Grossman, but he's been playing well.  We also know that the Eagles have a problem winning games, going 1-4, and the nightmare will continue for the Eagles.

The Redskins had their bye week in Week 5, and they will surely use that extra week of preparation to prove that they are a legit contender in the NFC by beating the Eagles.

The Redskins have been winning because of their rushing attack and stingy defense.  That's all they will need, as the Eagles have the third-worst run defense in the NFL, and they rely heavily upon their offense.

The Redskins will run all over the Eagles, and I really don't see this game being that close, as Washington will pull away from the Eagles at home.

Last season, this matchup would've featured the best team in the NFC against the worst team in the NFL—but that's all in the past.

Behind Cam Newton's incredible rookie campaign, the Panthers are on their way up, and they are about to topple the Falcons.

The Falcons have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, and the Panthers have one of the most successful passing games thus far.

The Falcons have Michael Turner in the backfield, but their ground game has been pitiful, and they are usually forced to throw the ball.  That's exactly what the Panthers want, as they have a pretty good pass defense.

We all still think that the Falcons are a good team because of last season, but they have gone 2-3 this season, coming back against the 1-4 Eagles and beating the hopeless Seattle Seahawks.

I can guarantee that the Panthers will prove this week that the Falcons aren't what they used to be.
