Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Spread Info, Line and Predictions

Andrew KulhaOct 14, 2011

The Pittsburgh Steelers got off to a rather slow start this season, and many felt that their reign of dominance in the AFC was done. But they can prove that they are back and feeling good this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

At 3-2 the Steelers aren't out of anything just yet, and the fact that they've struggled with a ton of injuries yet still have a winning record proves how good they really are.

The Jaguars, on the other hand, are not good whatsoever at 1-4. They are trying to get rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert used to playing in the NFL, so many people consider this season to already be a wash for the Jaguars.

Gabbert has shown some signs of being a good quarterback, but I highly doubt that he will be able to do much this week against a tough Steelers defense.

Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA

When: Sunday Oct. 16. 1 p.m. EST

Watch: CBS

Spread: Pittsburgh Steelers -13

The Jaguars are going to have a pretty hard time scoring against Pittsburgh, while conversely the Steelers can probably score at will.

Over/Under: 40

This is a pretty small over/under that should be a comfortable cover.

Key Injuries:

Jacksonville: Running back Montell Owens out (knee), linebacker Clint Session out (elbow), guard Jason Spitz out (quadricep), cornerback Derek Cox doubtful (shoulder), wide receiver Kassim Osgood questionable (hamstring).

Pittsburgh: Tackle Marcus Gilbert out (shoulder), tackle Casey Hampton out (shoulder), linebacker James Harrison out (eye), running back Mewelde Moore out (ankle), defensive end Aaron Smith out (foot), linebacker Jason Worilds out (quadricep).

Fantasy Big Plays:

Start: Pittsburgh receiver Mike Wallace should have a field day against Jacksonville's defense. I expect one touchdown and close to 100 yards at the very least.

Sit: The Steelers are good at stopping the run, so Maurice Jones-Drew is going to be a tough start this week.

Keys To Jacksonville Win:

Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert is going to have to have a coming-out party if the Jaguars have a shot at winning. He would have to play like a veteran, which seems unlikely.

Keys To Pittsburgh Win:

Air it out on offense and get the ball in the hands of receiver Mike Wallace. The sooner they get ahead the better.

Prediction:

Jacksonville may be good in time, but this is a game they will struggle in on the road.

Steelers: 35 Jaguars: 17
