NFL Trade Rumors: Brandon Lloyd Would Make Buffalo Bills Super Bowl Contender

Nicholas GossOct 14, 2011

Denver Broncos Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Lloyd is reportedly on the trading block, and if the Buffalo Bills were to make a deal for him they would become instant Super Bowl contenders.

A couple days after deciding to start quarterback Tim Tebow in their next game, the Broncos appear willing to make another daring move.

Buffalo, the St. Louis Rams and the Tennessee Titans are three teams desperate for a top receiver.

The Broncos are hoping that receivers Eddie Royal and Demaryius Thomas will return from injury soon, and that, combined with the impressive play of young receiver Eric Decker, makes giving up Lloyd easier to do.

Denver clearly isn't going to make the playoffs, so getting prime talent or draft picks for Lloyd from teams in dire need of a receiver is a smart idea.

Stevie Johnson is the Bills' best wide receiver, but he doesn't command double teams from opposing defenses and he won't scare you in the red zone.

Lloyd is a sure-handed receiver who is a deep threat and can be effective in the short possession game.

Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has played very well this season, and has led the Bills to big wins against the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.

If he had another star receiver to throw to, the Bills offense would be more difficult to stop than it already is.

The Bills have one of the more balanced offenses in football with Fitzpatrick in the passing game and running backs Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller developing into a nice RB duo.

The Buffalo Bills have proved they can win now, and their fans don't have to dwell on the promise of a better future.

Giving up a draft pick(s) to get Lloyd would be a great move for their on-field performance for the rest of the season, and more importantly it would show the players and fans that the team is going for it this season and they're dedicated to winning.

With the New York Jets playing poorly and the New England Patriots looking beatable, the Buffalo Bills have a chance to win a competitive AFC East division, and acquiring Lloyd from the Denver Broncos would make them a real Super Bowl contender.
