NFL Rumors: Brandon Lloyd Trade Talks Offer Rare Heat at NFL Trade Deadline

There is nothing like the heat that comes around trade deadline time. Only that intrigue is usually left for other sports. Thankfully, Brandon Lloyd has given us a much-needed rumor to take us to the NFL deadline. 

The NFL trade deadline is one sports deadline that rarely delivers. Teams are not willing to mess with chemistry produced at this time of year.  There is also the fear of parting with valuable draft picks that can help the team in an inexpensive manner.

This year seems to be different, as we have a star player that may be on the move, giving us something to dish about all weekend long. 

The Denver Broncos have moved Tim Tebow to the starting quarterback, making it necessary to tweak the offense to his very specific set of attributes. 

Tebow isn't the pocket passer that Kyle Orton is, and will need fewer receivers to target. That makes Lloyd, a free-agent-in-waiting, expendable. 

The Broncos may not want to dole out the money it would take to bring back Lloyd, so they are selling him to the highest bidder. 

Mike Sando of ESPN believes the St. Louis Rams are the best fit in the NFC West. I would agree, but don't see a team that is far from contending making a big move like this. 

The one team that continues to feature in most rumors is the Tennessee Titans. The loss of Kenny Britt will continue to haunt a team that has aspirations for the postseason.

They need another receiver to go along with Nate Washington, and Lloyd could definitely fit into that role. The next few days should see a great deal of heat to surround the Titans.  

There is no guarantee that Lloyd gets moved. The NFL has proved time and again to be a landscape of failed trades more than it has been for star-studded deals. 

The great thing for fans is that we finally have a juicy rumor to highlight the deadline. It doesn't happen often, so it will be a major point of discussion in the national media. 

With far more middling players being moved for late draft picks, Lloyd gives us an opportunity usually left for the leagues like the NBA. 

Brandon Lloyd is on the trade block, and that is all we need to have a great weekend of rumor, rumbling and discourse.
