NFL Picks Week 6: New England Patriots and 4 Teams on Upset Alert
The NFL has gotten off to a great start as we have seen several teams exceed expectations and play well this season, while we have also seen the self-proclaimed “dream team” struggle out of the gate all the while dealing with troubles in the locker room.
This week could have some more surprises in store as these teams are being put on upset alert.
New England Patriots
1 of 4The New England Patriots have looked outstanding this season and take on a very inconsistent Dallas Cowboys team this week, who have kept themselves within the spotlight of the media due to their quarterback, Tony Romo.
However, Miles Austin and Dez Bryant are probably for this week’s game and would help out the passing game tremendously.
If Felix Jones can run the ball consistently and open up the passing game, the Patriots could be in for a long Sunday.
Atlanta Falcons
2 of 4The Atlanta Falcons are a team that is not performing at the level expected, after going 13-3 last year, they already have three losses.
The Falcons host Carolina Panthers on Sunday and are likely looking for this game to help them get over their 2-3 start.
However, Carolina has a solid offensive core of Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams, Jimmy Graham, Jeremy Shockey and Cam Newton. This game could turn into a shout out and one that the Falcons may find themselves on the wrong end of.
Detroit Lions
3 of 4The Detroit Lions are the surprise story of the NFL right now as they are still undefeated due to the outstanding seasons of Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Jahvid Best. Despite playing so well, the 49ers have a legitimate shot to take down the Lions this week.
The 49ers are one of the best defenses in the NFL right now only giving up 15.6 points per game which is second in the league. They also have one of the better running backs in the league in Frank Gore.
If the 49ers can shut the Lions down on defense and control the time of possession on offense by giving the ball to Gore, they can win this game.
Washington Redskins
4 of 4The Washington Redskins have started at 3-1 and are currently atop the NFC East as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles so far have been an unbelievable disappointment.
However, this team has too much talent to not turn it around.
While the Redskins have played well, two of their wins come against two of the NFL’s worst franchises (St. Louis and Arizona) and Rex Grossman has been known to be inconsistent. With that, I expect Michael Vick to have a huge game and upset the Washington Redskins.
