Week 6 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Maurice Jones-Drew and the 4 Other RBs You Must Bench

Chris TrapassoOct 14, 2011

Over the years, Maurice Jones-Drew has been a total fantasy stud, regardless of the talent around him.

Good Jaguars teams, bad Jaguars teams—it hasn't mattered.

With that being said, how does his matchup against the Steelers in Pittsburgh look this week?

Not so good.

Maybe it's time to give MJD a little break?

Yea, I think so. Pittsburgh's defense has been more susceptible against the run this year, but you better believe the focus of their game plan this week is stopping Jones-Drew.

What other running backs must you click and drag to your bench this week?

DeAngelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart

In terms of talent and past production, you'd think these two were starters every week despite the splitting of carries.

But I want my running back to score touchdowns, and it looks like quarterback Cam Newton is the goal-line runner now.

The Panthers will move the ball through the air with relative ease against the Falcons this week, and I just don't see either one of these backs getting a ton of carries.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis

The Patriots running backs carried the ball 34 times last week against the Jets last week.

What?

Yes, Bill Belichick is more confident in his running attack as ever (weird timing with Brady putting up historic numbers) and the Law Firm is unquestionably the featured back.

However, the Rob Ryan-led Cowboys defense boast the league's best run defense.

The secondary isn't overly intimidating, and I think we see a return to the Patriots of old this week against Dallas.

Rashard Mendenhall

He'll be back in the lineup this week, but what has he proved so far this season in terms of being a viable fantasy running back?

To me, nothing.

The most yards he's gained in one game is 66 yards. I'm not sure, with the full rushing load, he's ready to explode coming off an injury.

Jacksonville's defense is better than you think.

They're allowing a mere 3.7 yards per carry.

To the bench!
