Week 6 Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Why You Must Start Fred Jackson

Mikhail TurnerOct 14, 2011

It's that time again. Another week gone and it's time to re-align those fantasy teams.

Of course there are the usual suspects when one thinks about a running back for your fantasy team, but I doubt Buffalo Bill Fred Jackson is one of those.

The Bills themselves have been a surprise package so far this season, and Jackson is a big part of that. If you want to get some points from your running back this weekend then you should start Fred Jackson.

Here are four reasons why.

No Fumbles

1 of 5

No fumbles means no lost points. See how Jackson's protecting the ball there? So far this season, Fred Jackson is only one of two running backs with over 90 carries that hasn't fumbled the ball at all.

The other is Cedric Benson.

The Giants defense may have picked up six fumbles so far this season, but I would bet on Jackson keeping the ball in his hands when he has it.

Yards on the Ground

2 of 5

Jackson is third in the league with 480 yards with an average of 96 yards per game. The Giants rushing defense is 22nd in the league, having given up 611 yards for an average of 122 yard per game.

You do the math.

Touchdowns

3 of 5

Touchdowns get you the big points and Jackson certainly has them so far.

Just as he is in the top five with almost every other category Jackson is tied for third in the league with five rushing touchdowns so far.

Yards in the Air

4 of 5

Jackson has pretty good catching the ball also. He is is the fifth best running back in terms of overall receiving yards with 232.

An average of 46 yards per game can only help boost his score.

The Bills May Continue Winning

5 of 5

The Bills are 4-1 so far this season and their opponents, the New York Giants, haven't been too impressive. The Bills are fourth in the league in rushing offense with C.J Spiller also providing some good moments on the ground.

The Bills only loss so far has come in an away game against the Cincinnati Bengals but that game provide their second lowest rushing total so far this season. The Bengals are currently the seventh best rushing defense in the league.

Things should be a little bit easier against the Giants.
